Hyundai Motor Company has reached a remarkable milestone in automotive history by celebrating the production of its 100 millionth vehicle. This feat, achieved in just 57 years since the company was founded, is a testament to one of the fastest growth trajectory in the global automotive industry.
Celebrating a milestone for Hyundai
The celebration took place at a special ceremony at the Ulsan plant in Korea, where it all began. In appreciation of its customers’ continued support and trust, Hyundai delivered the 100 millionth vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer at a special handover ceremony. The model, a symbol of Hyundai’s electric future, rolled off the final inspection conveyor belt at the Ulsan plant. The event also featured an exhibition celebrating the theme of ‘100 Million and 1’, symbolizing Hyundai’s commitment to always going further, building on its past achievements.
A History of Growth and Innovation
Since its inception in 1968, the Ulsan plant has played a key role in the development of the Korean automotive industry, producing the country’s first independent mass-produced model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, the Ulsan plant is a hub for electrification, and a dedicated electric vehicle facility is currently under development at the site.
Hyundai’s Leadership and Future Vision
Hyundai’s rise has not only been driven by its product innovations, such as the introduction of the Genesis and N premium brands, as well as electric vehicles such as the IONIQ 5. The company’s global reach has also expanded with production facilities in Turkey, India, the United States and the Czech Republic, all contributing to record-breaking achievements.
Hyundai Motor Chairman and CEO Jaehoon Chang emphasized that this achievement is the result of the company’s bold challenges and relentless pursuit of innovation, which have enabled rapid growth and will continue to propel Hyundai to new heights.
Hyundai’s Future
Last year, Hyundai further strengthened its momentum by establishing the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center in Singapore, a new concept smart urban mobility hub. The innovative manufacturing platforms and advanced technologies developed there, including artificial intelligence, robotics and smart factories, will be integrated into future production plants, maximizing production efficiency.
By marking the production of 100 million vehicles, Hyundai is not just celebrating a number; the company is marking a step toward the future era of electrification. This milestone is not simply a culmination, but rather a starting point toward new horizons of innovation and leadership in global mobility. With this achievement, Hyundai reaffirms its commitment to excellence and its ambition to continue playing a leading role in the evolution of the global automotive industry.
